AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF LAFAYETTE COUNTY TO PURCHASE SPEED DETECTION EQUIPMENT FOR USE BY THE SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT OF THE COUNTY IN THE ENFORCEMENT OF SPEED LIMITS ON COLLEGE HILL ROAD OUTSIDE THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF OXFORD, MISSISSIPPI; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. The Board of Supervisors of Lafayette County may expend, out of any available funds of the county, an amount that the board determines is sufficient for the purchase of and use by the sheriff's department of the county of speed detection equipment. If the board of supervisors authorizes the expenditure of funds for such purpose, then the Sheriff of Lafayette County and any duly sworn deputy sheriff of the county may operate and use such equipment to enforce the motor vehicle speed limits only on College Hill Road outside the corporate limits of the City of Oxford, Mississippi.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
